STEM Forum North Hesse

Science, technology, engineering and mathematics or STEM for short, are the foundations for mechanical engineering. Foundations need to be built upon – that's why regional contacts with schools are particularly important to us as a training company.
From Girls' and Boys' Day and school internships to apprenticeships, young people enter the professions related to plant and mechanical engineering at WEKAL.

On 26.02.2019, we were privileged to host the STEM Forum North Hesse and the OloV Schwalm-Eder.

Girls' and Boys' Day 2019

On Thursday, 28.03.2019, 5 female and 2 male young people visited WEKAL Maschinenbau GmbH, under the motto: "We move quality” in the context of this year's Girls' and Boys' Day. After a tour of the company, given by Mr Horst Rettberg, the young people were given an insight into the different areas of WEKAL Maschinenbau GmbH. Among other things, they were able to look over the shoulders of the technical product designers and see how technical solutions are created and how they are then virtually drawn using the latest CAD software. The young people were able to try their hand at assembling a workpiece carrier, which they were able to take home at the end of the interesting day. In addition, the young people were able to gain an insight into how a cutting machine operator milled and turned the parts for this workpiece carrier. After that, it was time for the assembly division. There, the workpiece carrier was assembled from the individual parts, independently. The young people were able to get to know the professions of industrial mechanic and electronics technician, among others. After almost 6 hours, an eventful day came to an end. We are looking forward to Girls' and Boys' Day 2020, which will take place on 26.03.2020.
